This service is available to anyone over the age of 18 with a valid Instruction Permit, Drivers License, or International Drivers License, and it’s based on student’s personal needs.

Effective July 1, 2014, Public Act 98-167, all first-time drivers over 18 and under 21 years old need to take an Illinois adult drivers education course (6 Hour Course) to earn an Illinois driver’s license. This is for students only who have not taken Drivers Education in High School.

To drive legally in Illinois, you must have a valid driver’s license, instruction permit, Restricted Driving Permit, or Judicial Driving Permit.

The first step of getting you behind the wheel in a state of Illinois is to obtain an instruction permit. To receive an Illinois instruction permit, individuals must appear in person at a driver services facility and provide :

• Acceptable form of identification to prove:
• Name
• Date of birth
• Illinois residency,
• Social Security number
• and Signature for comparison.

When you apply for your instruction permit, you must pass the vision screening and the appropriate written test for the classification you are seeking.

The questions for the basic written exam are taken from the information provided in The Illinois Rules of The Road booklet.

The exam requires you to:

1. Identify traffic signs by shape, color, or symbol
2. Identify signals and pavement markings
3. Answer multiple choice and true/false questions about traffic laws, safety rules, accident prevention, and vehicle equipment

Parking cont. /Intro to Heavy Traffic/ Lane Change/3-Point turns/ U-Turns

Lesson 4(1.5-2.0 hr.)
Expressway (entering and exiting)/ Merging / Speed and Distance management / Final In-Vehicle Review or Grade (Teens).

Lesson 5(1-2.0 hr.)
Private lesson/ Student’s Choice Review/ Hazards and Traffic/ Distractions/ Right of Ways / Emergency Situations

Lesson 6(1-2.0 hr.)
Private Lesson/ Students choice review/ Sate Drive Test preparation

This will vary from student to student; some students may be accelerated at the instructor’s discretion.
